Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (2024)

Love the frozen Pineapple Dole Whips you can get at Disneyland? Now you can make Dole Whips right at home with this easy recipe!

Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (1)

The Pineapple Dole Whips are one of our favorite treats at Disneyland. We LOVE Disneyland, and all their amazing food, which is why we make so many copycat recipes.

Sometimes the line for the Dole Whips is longer than some of the lines for rides!

Be sure to check out our Copycat Strawberry Dole Whip as well- it’s amazing!

So what is a Dole Whip?

It’s a pineapple-flavored soft serve dessert that is sold only at Disneyland, The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland’s Polynesian resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Dole’s processing plant in Hawaii.

Now you know why the lines are so long – they are hard to come by. But totally worth the wait.

But did you know, it is so easy to make it at home? Now you can enjoy all the delicious taste of a Dole Whip without traveling to Disneyland.

Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (2)

Ingredients in Disneyland’s Dole Whips

We know that there are a lot of different copycat recipes out there, but these are the ingredients that we use in our Pineapple Dole Whips:

  • frozen pineapple chunks
  • vanilla ice cream
  • fresh lime and lemon juice
  • pineapple juice

We do know that the Dole Whips at Disneyland and Disney World are dairy free, gluten free, and vegan.

For our recipe, we are using vanilla ice cream, which is not dairy free (but feel free to substitute a dairy-free ice cream of your choice).

You could also add more frozen pineapple and some coconut milk if desired. I prefer the ice cream because it makes it so creamy and delicious.

How to make a Disneyland Dole Whip:

This recipe could not be easier. It only requires a few simple steps, and you will be dreaming of Disneyland in just seconds.

Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (3)
  • You will want a high-powered blender to make this treat (I used a Vitamix).
  • First, puree the pineapple in the blender (it works best if the fruit is about half-thawed and kind of soft).
Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (4)
  • Next, add the ice cream and juices to the blender and mix it all together. If you are making it with extra pineapple and not ice cream, you may want a splash of almond milk in there. This will help it blend easier.
  • You can then eat it as is (like more of a soft serve) or stick it in the freezer for about 2 hours if you like it a little more set up.
Homemade Disneyland Dole Whips Recipe (5)
  • Scoop some Dole Whip into cups or bowls, pour a little more pineapple juice on top, and serve! Super simple.
  • They also serve something called a Dole Whip Float, which adds a little more pineapple juice, and a whole lot of flavor. It is also highly recommended.

If you love this, be sure to try our Mango and Pineapple Dole Whip!

Could this be prepared and served the next day?

For this recipe, we recommend serving it as soon as you make it or serving it after it set up for 2 hours, especially where it is so quickly thrown together and only takes a few minutes to make.

You could make it ahead of time, but it will not be as creamy.

If you plan to make it ahead of time, we recommend freezing it in an airtight container and not waiting more than 24 hours to eat it.

We also recommend serving it as a float, if you are making and serving the next day. But again, this is recommended to serve fresh and quickly after blending.

I keep seeing people referring to these. I have been to Disney World a lot but never seen them. I'm sure I'll be back this summer so I'm going to check them out. Until then, I have your fabulous recipe!~Cherylhttp://snaps-of-ginger.blogspot.com/

  2. Christy Orlando says:

She said disneyland, which is in CaliforniaDisneyworld is in Florida

  3. Mary Travis says:

They have them at Disney World. We had them last Nov 2013. I think it was at MK close to Swiss Family tree. They were wonderful!

  4. Julie says:

Yes, just as someone else posted, they are at the Magic Kingdom very near the Swiss Family Tree house, and right next door to where you meet Tinkerbell. It is called Aloha Isle. You can also get the orange flavor whip, or even a Dole Whip float (the whip plus pineapple juice). Very tasty and refreshing on a hot afternoon!

  5. Tammy Plunkett says:

This recipe sounds delicious, but one of the reasons I am so in love with Dole Whips is because they are dairy free! All of the mock-up recipes use milk products...just wondering how they are actually made?

  6. Bobbi says:

I have tried several recipes. Can't find one like the real thing. :( After lots of searching, the thing I found is, from my understanding, it is a mix that they order.

  7. Theresa says:

hmm?since the mix is made with coconut oil, maybe if you made coconut milk ice cream and used that instead of dairy? I might have to try it?.then of course I'd have to go to Disney to compare, for research purposes, of course! :D

  8. diana says:

Really Good! Even my husband who usually doesnt do sweets loved it!

  9. Misty Nicole Overstreet-Roberts (The Lady Prefers To Save) says:

That's a wonderful recipe! Also, I would love it everyone would check my site out as well, http://theladypreferstosave.com. I've recently started a section on budget-friendly recipes as well! Thanks!

  10. Erlene says:

Pineapple and ice cream...YUM! This would make a nice treat for after meals. Pinned

  11. Jennifer says:

Thanks for the post. Menchie's Frozen Yogurt offers "Dole Soft Serve Pineapple" -- a great substitution if you can't make it to Disneyland/Disney World for the real thing + it's dairy free, gluten-free and nonfat. :)

  12. Heather Wassing says:

I've seen a version on Pinterest that used almond milk and agave. Try to hunt that one down. It was tasty!

  13. Christie says:

They make it in Hawaii (as you might expect) at the Dole plant on Oahu, the malls and at the airport. I looked like all they were using was pineapple, but who knows? It was the best thing I've ever eaten on a hot day.

  14. Dave says:

I've had Dole Whip on Oahu and at Disneyland. Definitely favor the flavor on the island. The closest I've come to re-creating the experience is to add 1/2 of a fresh pineapple and a 1/3 to 1/2 of a half gallon of pineapple sherbet in a blender topped off with ice. Blend and voila! BTW since you're blending, it's ok to leave the core on the pineapple! It's the sweetest part ;)

  15. Melanie says:

I found a recipe that uses whipped topping instead. Like cool whip. This will make it dairy free!

  16. Clauda says:

The recipe calls for ice cream? How, then, is this dairy free? Did see someone's suggestion to use whipped topping, like Cool Whip.????

  17. Cyd says:

Our recipe is not dairy free. It has ice cream in it! It is very delicious!

  18. Pamela Hoge says:

Thanks for sharing. It looks delicious!I've made something similar, using 2 - 4 * frozen bananas as a substitute for the ice cream. (Cut the bananas in chunks first and freeze in a Ziploc bag.)This makes the recipe sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and Paleo-friendly. :)*depending on size

  23. Judy says:

1 whole pineapple ? cut up and frozen overnight1 cup of coconut milk (or milk of choice)Directions:Place frozen chunks of pineapple and coconut milk into a food processor or high powered blender.Turn on food processor and blend until the consistency becomes creamy. You may have to stop several times and scoop down the pineapple.Makes about 3-4 servings.

  24. Heather says:

This is sooooo exciting... We're in New Zealand and we had these at Disneyland so many times when we were on holiday - they were a favourite ...and now we can make them at home... Thank you!

  25. Erin says:

I put frozen pineapple through a Yonanas: one ingredient. It's awesome!

  26. T says:

Real Dole Whips are dairy free. They do not use ice cream.

  27. Debra says:

But ALL of the sites that link to your recipe claim it's for a "dairy-free" version, which is why people looking for, well, the "dairy-free" version are so confused...

  28. Cyd says:

We know this is not dairy free with the vanilla ice cream in the ingredients. We have never claimed that it's dairy free. Not sure why other sites are saying that it is. We do know that it's super good and refreshing!! :)

  29. Dora says:

I am going to have to try this. i have not had one since the las time I went to Disney World around about 10-15 maybe even longer.

  30. Hannah says:

Well, she's in Utah, so I would think that she's talking about California.

  31. Marcia says:

I have never had a Dole Whip before, but this recipe is really delicious!! A definite keeper. Thank you!

  32. Charlsie says:

From those that live in northern Utah, if you can't make it to Disneyland or Oahu, they now serve Dole Whip at Lagoon. We buy season passes since we live close and we like to take the kiddos during less crowded days and times. We discovered the Dole Whip "shack" last year and when we received our generous portions of creamy pineapple goodness, our tummies were delighted! Making it at home is obviously awesome and cheaper but it's always good to have a backup plan. ;o)

  33. sondra says:

yes in FL also...they are delish!

  34. Lane says:

At the Magic Kingdom, Dole Whip can be purchased at the Aloha Isle in Adventureland.

  35. Virginia says:

Looks delicious and cool. Good drink for hot weather.

  36. Jonathan says:

Did you know that you can have the real dole whip if you rent an ice cream machine? My wife's business www.doodillys.com rents the machines and sells the real pineapple dole whip mixes.

  37. Mariam says:

The Dole Whips can be found at the Tiki Room entrance in Disneyland! You can enjoy one while you're waiting to go into the Tiki Room! ;-)

  38. Jenny says:

I love this delicious treat! Someone me a great recipe that mimics this one almost perfectly, and is dairy free! Mix pineapple sherbert with 100% pineapple juice and you get an amazing smoothie!

  39. Beth says:

They sell them in both Disney resorts.

  40. JC says:

You can also get them at the Polynesian Resort in Disney World. For some reason they taste better than the ones sold in Magic Kingdom.

  41. Gram says:

I love Dole Whips and am buying the ingredients to make this recipe. My Disneyland-loving granddaughter and I will make these when she is visiting for Spring Break next week. I will let you know how they compare to the real thing. Thanks for posting!

  42. Holly Young says:

Aloha Isle just changed places with Sunshine Terrace this year, so you'll find them around the corner from where they used to be :)

  43. Brooke says:

Love love love love love!!! Absolutely the best recipe I have made in a long time. I'm telling all of my friends and even strangers in the grocery store, too good not to share!

  44. Missy says:

Can this be prepared overnight & served next day?

  45. Cyd says:

You could try putting it in the freezer and serving it the next day.

  46. Carrie says:

  47. Barbara Dattilo says:

I am unable to find the recipe for the, Dole Whip Float. It looks like it is made with Orange juice, etc. If you could kindly let me know where I can find the recipe, I would be so grateful. I got the, Disneyland Dole Whip recipe, but there is a picture of the float and it is orange in color and the Dole Whip is yellow. So I know they are two different recipes. So please send it to me if possible. Many thanks.

I met my wife working at Aloha Isle at Walt Disney World almost 20 years ago. The Dole Whip is a powdered base mixed with water and chilled in a soft serve machine.

  51. Raquel Crisp says:

Hi Christy, I'm not sure about Florida, but the Dole Whip is in Disneyland next to the Tiki Room. Its a cute anamatronic show featuring beautiful birds! Always a hightlight of our trips to Disneyland. :)
