Today I'm sharing my honest first impressions of XB Sweat and Sculpt by Andrea Roberts, a strength and dance cardio combo program recently launched by Beachbody.

Who is XB Sweat and Sculpt NOT For?

If you are somebody who is looking to develop muscle hypertrophy, (ie, grow your muscle mass) this is not the workout for you.

There is a strength element, but it's more focused on strength endurance rather than muscle development. So if you're looking for gains, look at Lift 4 or 645, as they are specifically designed for muscle development.

So Who Is XB Sweat and Sculpt Geared Toward?

If you just want something that is fun, that will help you get your heart rate up, but you hate working out, then stick with me, as this might be for you.

XB Sweat and Sculpt is listed as an intermediate workout, but based on the first few workouts that I have tried, I would say it's probably moderate to low intermediate. I didn't find the first few workouts extremely challenging, but they tend to get harder as you go further into the program.

Breaking Down The Workout Flow

There are some strength training moves interspersed with cardio intervals. So you start the workout with a little cardio blitz, which you can do as high impact or low impact. I really love these cardio intervals. They are fun, and honestly, if you're in a funk, this is would be a great distraction.

If you liked Turbo Fire, you would like these sort of moves. And thank Gawd this is a home workout and nobody is seeming me try to follow the steps, because your girl seriously lacks rhythm!

What I Like About XB Sweat and Sculpt

  • The time goes by fast and the moves are fun
  • I love the switch from cardio to strengths. It keeps it interesting.
  • Andrea Rogers doesn't over talk. I can't stand instructors that over instruct or love the sound of their own voice too much, ya know?
  • It's easy to level the intensity up or down using high or low impact and also heavier weights.

What I don't Like about XB Sweat and Sculpt

  • Not enough time is spent on strength moves (this may change as I get through the program).
  • The classes could be a little longer - maybe 40 minutes. They seem to go so fast, and I typically LOVE fast!
  • There are fewer overall workouts than with Barre Blend. I would have liked it to be a little more robust.

What kind of equipment do you need for this program?

It is very minimal, which is what something else I love. All you need are a couple of ankle weights, which comes with the completion pack (that's a nice bonus!). Or if you don't buy the full bundle program, you can just pick up some ankle weights on Amazon.

You'll also need a set of lightweights, 3lbs weights and a workout band.

If you are finding that it's not challenging enough up your weights, instead of using three pound weights, go to five or eight pound weights, then do the workout  and tell me how much of a sweat it brings on!

XB Sweat and Sculpt Before and Afters

These are people that went through the program in the test version. Now, these results are amazing, but they're not achieved by workouts alone.

Here's the truth - You cannot out sweat a crappy diet. I'm sorry. And the older you get, the more true that becomes. I am 52 at this point, and let me tell you. It gets harder. But if you can build a habit of working out on the regular, then they can really make all the difference.

Nutrition Support with XB Sweat and Sculpt

If you buy the bundle package, you are also going to get access to two nutrition programs - Portion Fix and 2B Mindset.

I used to love the Portion Fix program. I've moved away from that simply because it feels too rigid and confined for me. I do love the 2B Mindset program. I think it's very easy to follow, and you get to eat what you want, but in moderation.

If neither of those two programs appeal to you, and you prefer to eat what you want, then you might want to try counting macros.

So those are my thoughts so far. If you have any questions about XB Sweat and Sculpt, drop them below. I'll be happy to answer them. If you want to purchase the program, you can do that right here.

Thanks for being here!
